CONCERT "THE HUMPBACK WHALE"

 

Vincom Center for Contemporary Art (VCCA) proudly presents "The Humpback Whale" Educational Concert - an opening event for the series of art education activities during the exhibition "Plastic Planet "(taking place from June 21 to August 18, 2019) organized by VCCA.

 

"The Humpback Whale" - a story about the journey, friendship and maturity between a humpback whale and his special friend. Who is that friend? What are waiting for them in the adventure?

 

The story of the unique whale in vast ocean with thousands of beautiful things will be told in the soaring sound of flute, oboe, and piano in the concert. The event is free for everyone and will take place at 6:30 PM, June 21th.

Performers

 

Flute artist Nguyen Ly Huong

Nguyen Ly Huong earned her bachelor's degree in flute from Vietnam National Academy of Music and master's degree from Malmö Music Academy, Sweden. She is currently a flute lecturer at percussion department of Vietnam National Academy of Music. Since 2006, she has participated in more than 100 performances in various symphony programs of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, the Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hanoi Opera and Ballet Orchestra, the Hue Academy Symphony Orchestra. In 2014, she was the only Vietnamese artist invited to perform as Soloist with the Royal London Symphony Orchestra - Covent Garden in Toyota Classics 2014, an annual popular concert in Vietnam.

 

Oboe artist Hoang Manh Lam

Hoang Manh Lam started studying oboe at the age of 12 at the Vietnam National Academy of Music. In 2005 and 2006, he was a member of the Cisma symphony Orchestra in Guangdong, China. He used to be a member of Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (2014 - 2016) and Young International Orchestra Junge Orchesterakademie in Germany (2017). Currently, he teaches at the Vietnam National Academy of Music and is a member of the Sun Symphony Orchestra.

 

Pianist Nguyen Quynh Trang

Nguyen Quynh Trang graduated from Karlsruhe Academy of Music in Germany. She won the second prize of "Fall Concour" in 2007; "Young Steinway Artist" award in the first International Piano Competition in Hanoi in 2010; Gold medal of ASIA International Piano Contest in Korea, 2011

The educational concert is curated by Wonder

Wonder is an art practice, research, and education organization. All profits from Wonder's activities go to the Miracle Choir and Orchestra Project - a free music education project for orphans in Hanoi. Operating as a social enterprise, Wonder pursues its mission of contributing to "building a society with happy souls."
