MULTIMEDIA SHOW: #ELECTRICCITYPROJECT
VCCA is pleased to present the #ELECTRICCITYPROJECT multimedia show, taking place at 8pm on March 23, 2019.
#ELECTRICCITYPROJECT is a long-term cooperation project between visual artist Crazy Monkey (Le Thanh Tung) and sound artist group ANNAM (An Nam Co Nguyet). Experimenting and exploring the multi-dimensional relationship between technology and human being, the whole idea of the project revolves around the question of how technology affects the body, activities and behavior of people in the modern society. #ELECTRICCITYPROJECT finds hidden places in the use of technology, changes in culture, traditions of this era and dreams of a future world.
Launched is Vietnam for the first time, #ELECTRICCITYPROJECT show at VCCA also marked the first combination of 3 talented young artists from different fields of art: Crazy Monkey (visual art), Dustin Ngo (experimental music) and Nguyen Duy Thanh (hip hop - contemporary dance). The program promises to bring you a diverse, lively and captivating performance with the harmony of body language, visual art and electronic music.

CRAZY MONKEY
Crazy Monkey is the independent label of visual artist Le Thanh Tung, one of the pioneers in Vjing in Vietnam. Tung has performed on many national and international stages. His work is full of color, vigorous detail, and classic aesthetic elements but are perceived, assembled and blended with modern surrealism to create a very distinctive look and feeling. He is also an active art director of Yan TV, Oppo... and founder of his studio Box Collective.
Throughout his artworks, Tung has always questioned about the boundary that is gradually disappearing between the real world and the virtual one. "Which is the real and which is the alternative of the other?". While experimenting on a variety of materials and styles, Tung is best known for his 3D video experiments on the relationship between human body and digital graphics. By combining dances from contemporary dance through a Kinect camera and a DSLR camera, Tung presents the public with a series of rhythms depicting a strange parallel world of humans.
DUSTIN NGO
Dustin Ngo (Nguyen Phan Huy) is a music producer based in Hanoi, Vietnam. As a student of Hanoi Architectural University, his inspiration is influenced by different kinds of worldwide culture through every lecture. Experimenting with various traditional materials and electronic music, his work, thus, has a fresh and unique color, hidden inside which is his view on life and people.
NGUYEN DUY THANH
Nguyen Duy Thanh has pursued dancing for over 16 years so far. He is one of the first artists in Vietnam to combine Hip Hop with contemporary dance language and Asian tradition to create a unique style. Thanh has won many awards for hip hop in Asia and Europe. He has collaborated with many famous domestic and international artists such as Tran Ly Ly, Arco Renz, Heiner Goebbels…
