Canvas began to be widely used in Europe from the 15th to 16th centuries, mostly as a painting surface for oil. Canvas has become one of the most popular materials in painting and is still broadly used today.

VCCA would like to invite you to join the workshop "Art appreciation: Works on canvas" taking place at 10 AM on February 16. Led by artist and art educator Vu Do, participants will be introduced to the basic knowledge of canvas materials in painting, including composition and use of canvas through prominent art works in art history.

Vu Do is an artist and art educator in Hanoi. He graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (Pafa) majoring in Painting. Vu Do is the leader of Hanoi Art 21, a group of young artists in Hanoi and founder of The Painter's Studio.
