The ‘Diary of a cricket - Touch the worlds’ exhibition

The ‘Diary of a cricket - Touch the worlds’ exhibition organized by the VCCA and the Kim Dong publishing company will bring the character from the masterpiece by author To Hoai to the real world through many mediums of art such as 3D pop-ups, symbolized characters and original art.


Furthermore, to honor To Hoai and the ‘Diary of a Cricket’ book, the production team also researched and built collections of drafts, prints and illustrations from the making of the book. With artifacts that have connections with the author, the exhibition will look back on a series of emotions, dreams and memories held by many generations of readers. 


The exhibition will display illustrations of the cricket from many artists, including. 

  • Ta Huy Long - head designer for the Kim Dong publishing company - a popular artist in the world of art in the North of Vietnam. Long is one of many who were honored in 2017 for his contributions towards the nation’s art scene. 
  • Ngo Manh Lan -  art designer of the Russian version of the ‘Diary of a Cricket’ series of books.
  • Artist and Director Truong Qua - notable artist from the south, also one of the designers of the original renditions of the ‘Diary of a Cricket’ books.
  • Thanh Chuong - with artworks famous in and out of Vietnam.
  • Vu Xuan Hoan - Painter, art editor at the Kim Dong publishing company. 
  • Dau Dua (Dau Thi Ngoc Vinh) - born 1992, with art that’s filled with love and care. 


The exhibition will be open for free from 10h00 to 20h00 Tuesday to Sunday, from 21/1 until 25/3/2018 at the VCCA (B1, R3, Vincom Mega Mall Royal city, 72 Nguyễn Trãi, Hà Nội). The opening ceremony takes place at 17h30 20/1/2018.


On 27/1, painter Ta Huy Long along with other artists will have art displays and talks with visitors about the journey of drawing the cricket. Besides, there will be free water painting and paper craft classes for younger visitors and on saturday nights (except for Tet weekends), the VCCA will hold musical shows with modern and traditional pieces about family and love, etc. Featuring young artists such as Hoang Dung, Tuan Phuong, Dang Tuan Phong, etc. the programming will be updated on the official fan page and website.
