"- I’m just a tiny seed.
- Me too!
- My roots are strong and beautiful.
- Mine too
- I am the gift of this life!
- Me too…”
In this workshop, under the guidance of children's book author Phạm Thị Hoài Anh and Education Curator Phương Vũ, children and their families will read the book "I'm Like a Tree and a Tree's Like Me" by Sylvaine Jaoui and illustrated by Anne Crahay. This heartwarming book speaks to readers of all ages about the strong roots and beautiful journey of growth that each of us experiences.
After reading the book, participants will engage in activities that involve nurturing their own small seed with fresh, loving nourishment. There will also be a sharing session about the roots of their own families, allowing everyone to connect more deeply with the book’s message and meaning. The workshop will feature a special guest family, so stay tuned to find out which family it will be!
This event is part of The Family Children’s Book Exhibition.
* ABOUT THE STORYTELLER
Author and children's book educator Phạm Thị Hoài Anh is also the Content Curator for the The Family Children’s Book Exhibition. Her books on family themes have been beloved and widely embraced by readers, including “Trái tim của mẹ" (illustrated by Đậu Đũa), “Bàn tay của bố" (illustrated by Đốm Đốm), “Tạm biệt bà ngoại" (illustrated by Mai Hoa), and "Daddy's Hand" (illustrated by Đậu Đũa). She has twice won the Vietnam National Book Award for her works “Trái tim của mẹ" and “Nâu Nâu thị thành, Xanh Xanh đồng quê” (translated from Mo Willems and Harry Bliss). Hoài Anh believes that adults and children together can open and explore the marvelous wonders of children's books, and she nurtures this belief through research and practical projects in children's book education and arts programs, in collaboration with colleagues at ICBC.
Education Curator Phương Vũ plays a diverse range of roles as a Producer, Education Curator, and Manager of various Art Projects and Organizations, driven by the belief that art can bring spiritual enrichment to human life. Phương has directly managed and produced numerous programs in various scales, formats, and for different audiences, including the biennial Sing for Joy concerts at Hanoi's Opera House, the Khi Tôi 20 classical music course for non-major students, curated educational concerts for children under 10, and independent concerts by artists such as pianist Trang Trịnh and the Epiphany Ensemble (UK). Phương has also spent many years managing the Magical Choir & Orchestra Project—a music education initiative for underprivileged children. The art projects Phương Vũ has managed have won several awards, including the UN-Habitat Peace Building Award and the Friendship Award for cultural projects from the Korean Cultural Centre – Embassy of the Republic of Korea. Phương Vũ currently serves as the Education Curator at the Vietnam Youth Music Institute.
